Apply to be a SOAK Director

Overview
An integral part of the Production team, the Director role operates as Lead support as well as a bridge between departments and Producers. They ensure SOAK leads and departments are directly supported for immediate and long term needs throughout the event cycle. They are the first point of contact for a Lead to request help, information, or to escalate an issue.

Directors meet regularly with the SOAK Producers and the Precipitation Northwest Board of Directors, and offer direct input into high level decisions and overall vision of the event.

Responsibilities (Pre Event)
- Meet regularly with the Department Leads they oversee to answer any critical questions.
- Help Leads set and meet department goals.
- Help Leads establish department budgets.
- Help Leads onboard new Leads and volunteers.
- Oversee interdepartmental communication when necessary.
- Identify areas of improvement and facilitate solutions.
- Respond to emails and Slack messages in a timely manner.

Responsibilities (on-site)

Attend daily Leads meetings.
- Maintain consistent communication with assigned department Leads.
- Be available on radio communications (in shifts coordinated with fellow Directors).
- Stand in for Producers when necessary.
- Work with Producers and the Board of Directors to problem solve issues that may arise.

Time commitment
- February-May: 5-15 hours a week
- Includes attending the Leads Retreat in early Feb and bi-weekly Leads Meetings.
- Time commitments generally increase in May as we get closer to the event).
- On-site: Present and available Tues - Monday of the event.

Requirements
This role requires high level communication, facilitation and decision making skills. Past volunteer experience with SOAK a big plus. Must have access to the internet. Must be in good standing with PNW and have not been dismissed or disqualified from volunteer service at a past Regional Event or Burning Man.
