Code of Conduct
All SOAK volunteers & participants are required to agree to the following Code of Conduct. This code will be shared with attendees, and organizers will enforce this code throughout the event and during related gatherings before and after the event. We value all participants, and believe that radical self-expression flourishes in an environment where mutual dignity and respect are upheld.
Safe Space Agreement
Everyone participating in the SOAK community—including, but not limited to exhibitions, events, performances, and social media channels—is expected to agree to the following Space Agreement. This includes all attendees, volunteers, board members, and production staff.
We agree to the following:
Not be violent or deliberately threaten or intimidate.
Not damage or steal property or artwork.
Align with the event’s mission and objectives
Violation of these guidelines may result in being asked to leave the space.
Non-Discrimination Policy
SOAK does not and shall not discriminate based on race, color, religion, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, national origin (ancestry), age, disability, genetic information, disability, military or veteran status, marital status, or any other status protected by applicable federal, Oregon, or local law. SOAK is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of our staff, participants, board of directors, volunteers, vendors, and those served by SOAK.
Non-Harassment Policy
SOAK is dedicated to providing a safe and harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, mental illness, neurotype, physical appearance, body, age, race, ethnicity, nationality, language, or religion. This includes the physical space, digital spaces, and the SOAK site. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form, including but not limited to sexual, physical, and verbal.
Such harassment may include verbal or physical conduct that denigrates or shows hostility towards an individual because of any protected status, such as written material, jokes, pictures (including drawings), epithets, slurs, negative stereotyping, or threatening, intimidating, or hostile acts that relate to a protected class.
Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the event organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender and/or expelling them from the event.
Reporting Procedure
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a Ranger or member of the event staff immediately. Event staff can be identified as they’ll be wearing branded t-shirts and/or laminated badges, and carrying radios. Event staff will be happy to help participants contact event security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event. You can also reach out to producers@soakpdx.com at any time. If the person whom you have a concern with is a staff or board member, get in touch with an individual board member and we will provide an alternative grievance point of contact.
