To be considered as a Lead you must:

  1. Be able to meet the time commitment for the event planning cycle, and on-site responsibilities.

  2. Have consistent access to the internet and ability to respond in a timely fashion.

  3. Be in good standing with PNW and have not been dismissed or disqualified from volunteer service at a past Regional Event or Burning Man.

  4. Meet any department-specific requirements, as applicable.

  • SOAK is Seeking a Lead for its Radical Inclusion Department!

    Radical Inclusion works to create new pathways for underrepresented communities to access and have a voice at this incredible event. Now in its second year as an official SOAK position, we’re excited to continue this important work. 

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Work with the SOAK Production team, Precipitation Northwest Board of Directors, and underrepresented community members to ensure inclusive practices are incorporated into the event and throughout the organization.

    • Implement the Radical Inclusion ticket process, including reviewing applications for the program and working with Box Office to assure tickets are distributed. 

    • Engage with local tribes to offer access to SOAK and serve as their point of contact before, during, and after the event.

    • Follow-up with other SOAK departments regarding their inclusion plans and provide support as needed.

    • Review prior department efforts and make adjustments to department strategy as needed to ensure maximum impact.


    Who we’re looking for:

    • Individuals who are members of underrepresented communities are strongly encouraged to apply. We are particularly focused on recruiting leads from nondominant cultures within our community (according to the SOAK*2024 census results).

    • Prior SOAK volunteer experience is preferred and a demonstrated background in diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • The Leave No Trace Department is a mission critical part of SOAK: LNT ensures the SOAK site is fully restored back to how we found it, or better.

    Responsibilities:
    - Attend SOAK meetings, manage emails & communications
    - Establish department budget
    - Coordinate with DPW to ensure proper equipment arrives on site and returns to the barn
    - Recruit, manage, and track hours for all LNT volunteers
    - Coordinate with MBS department to ensure proper restoration of burn sites
    - Educate/communicate LNT ethos with team, camps, & attendees
    - Lead the post-event LNT sweep of property
    - Track MOOP distribution in relation to theme camps & communication with Placement team
    - Coordinate post-event Monday night volunteer dinner
    - Coordinate removal of MOOP, lost & found belongings back to the Burner Barn
    - Write the After Burn Report.

    Time Expectations:
    - January-May: attend soak meetings, hire, train, and schedule volunteers.
    - On-Site: Attend daily Leads meetings. Most of the active work will happen Monday (last day of event) & Tuesday (post event).
